Hedgehogs Nursery pre-school children have been busy at St John’s Forest School. The children have been creating shelters and habitats for the animals that live in the forest and enjoying circle time around the camp fire, where they share stories about the creatures and learn about the great outdoors.

Forest School sessions, run by Mrs Bev Hamilton, St John’s teacher, help the children to gain confidence and improve their self-esteem.

Bev said: “I love being outside with the children, their whole demeanour becomes calm and peaceful. Forest School gives the children opportunities to carry out activities they may not normally do at home and the tasks can sometimes ask them to take a considered risk. We are there to scaffold and guide their learning.”
